the quicksilver pack!
welcome!
"so you think you have it in you to withstand the intense scrutiny of me, farrah? i am the alpha of the quicksilver pack, blessed with a sharp tongue and sharper mind and rippling muscles not to be messed with. if you think you're worthy of joining my ranks, then you had better be prepared to live up to your word. living in these lands is a daily war, and everything we do is to protect our territory from threat. so stand up and be counted here, you mismatched bunch of homeless wanderers, and we'll band together or we'll die trying."
the pack of the eastern territory call themselves the quicksilver pack, owing to their quick-witted minds, sharp as silver tongues and ability to sneak out of even the harshest of situations. farrah, the large grey alpha wolf, runs his pack like a machine.
there are the generals, who command respect from all they see; the alpha, farrah, and his mate if he ever sees fit to find one, and the beta, and their mate if they see fit to have one, and of course their pups, if the pack is blessed by such an occurrence. the alpha's word is law, and the betas will apply that law to the rest of the pack. both have the right to adjudicate fights and pass judgement, but only the alpha has the power of exile. the betas run the monthly patrols around the borders of the territory and have especial power over the ranks of the guards.
and then there are the lieutenants, whose knowledge and experience make them the first wolf the generals go to for advice in times of war and times of plenty. they preside over their specific fields of knowledge. they are often the oldest able-bodied wolves and have many years of experience and the scars to prove it.
then come the officers, the petty ranks; they make up the main body of the pack, and are strong and well-trained in their specific fields, as well as being able to defend the pack if the need arrives. hunters provide the food for the pack, providing first for the alpha and beta families, then for the elders, nursing faes and other pups, and then for the other wolves. guards protect the pack from any and all dangers, and form a defending patrol along the borders at the orders of the beta.
the new recruits are the lifeblood of the pack, and should be protected and placed above others at all costs. pups are the smallest, youngest and most impressionable of the pack; they are called so until half a year of age at which point they will become yearlings. yearlings remain so until around a year and a half, at which point they will be accepted into the ranks of the officers. the old timers have served the pack immensely well for their many years and are rewarded with comfort and service by the younger wolves. they tell stories for the youngsters and give their advice on many topics.
and lastly come the dishonourably discharged. exiled wolves are not technically part of the pack, but have done such a terrible thing that the alphas have seen fit to exile them. they are to be run off pack territory, and after that point attacked on sight. omegas have come from bad blood - exiled from other packs, or born with omega blood; they eat last, and their opinions do not matter. but an omega may be reinstated if they perform a service to the pack that is deemed worthy.
